MZČR plans to deliver 5 times more vaccines to PL hands in June than vaccinated in March

5x more vaccines for practitioners than so far?

It's disappointing

The experience of vaccinating against covid has so far been very frustrating for many practitioners — they were about to engage in that crucial task and instead of clinical deployment they experienced mainly officiating with vaccination lists and then waiting for Godot. Will practitioners remember 2021 as the year they wanted to vaccinate and could only get involved as brigadiers in vaccination centers?

Fresh data from MZČR (which, of course, published e.g. Central Bohemian Region(not the Ministry itself!) They suggest not.

Outlook according to MZČR plans

According to ISIN, 373,000 doses of Astra Zeneca and Janssen vaccines had been vaccinated by the end of April, most of them in March, when 200,000 doses were vaccinated. In contrast, the Ministry plans to vaccinate 425 thousand doses in May and even 905 thousand doses of these two vaccines in June. In addition, the ministry anticipates approval of Novavax and delivery of 108,000 doses — also in June. If that were to happen, practitioners could be tasked with vaccinating 5x more doses in June than were vaccinated in March.

In practice, this would mean vaccinate 250 doses in one month, instead of the average number of 50 that made it to 3968 PL surgeries during March.

If we look at 2021 as a whole, Practitioners have over 90% of their work in vaccination against Covid still ahead of them.

Is it going to happen?

We don't know for sure, of course. Even in the case of the BioNTech vaccine, the actual vaccination progress lags behind schedule by 13%, in the case of Moderna it is 19% and in the case of Astra Zeneca by 32%. But even if practitioners got 3x or 4x more doses in June than they got in March, that's going to be a challenge.

M.D. Ondřej Sobotka, Head Physician of the Emmy Project, comments: “We are proud to have been the first to come up with a comprehensive solution for supporting vaccination logistics in PL clinics with Emmy. And we were very happy to see how beautifully it works in practice how in cities ceiling in in the countryside. But the number of doses delivered to practitioners' offices has disappointed us all very much. Therefore, we are looking forward to everything being different in May and especially in June, and Emmy will finally get the opportunity to show how much help she can offer in organizing vaccinations! “
