We can set EMMs so that patients can reliably distinguish whether they are infectious or not

Infectious or non-infectious - can the patient tell the difference?

Clinics that let patients book through Emmys like to use the division of office hours into infectious and non-infectious patients, especially during periods of increased respiratory infections.

Emma's default setting assumes that the office decides whether or not a patient is infectious based on a completed patient questionnaire. It does so by changing the category of the request to “Infectious” or “Non-infectious”. With this assessment in advance, the office can also adjust the necessary length of the order to suit and then let the patient choose the appointment or possibly the date directly to the patient (for example, with the possibility that the patient can adjust the appointment himself if necessary).

If you want to save on this plywood in the office, you can create multiple versions of the “I have health problems” request. Just copy it and rename one to “Health problems infectious - cough, runny nose, temperature, sore throat” and the other “Health problems other - non-infectious”. Then it is advisable to turn off questions for non-infectious flags (using the “Edit Field” function) for infective request type and vice versa turn off questions for infective Symptoms for non-infectious type of request.

You just need to set the category “Infectious” or “Non-infectious” and for each type it is also possible to adjust the default order length.

You can also add the option to actively confirm the absence of infectious symptoms for a non-infectious request type as MUDr. Kiselakova. Without active confirmation by the patient that he does not have a temperature or signs of respiratory infection, the patient cannot submit a non-infectious type of request.

M.D. Kiseľáková evaluates this solution as follows: “I am happy with the division of requirements into infectious and non-infectious, I think it works well in our country and it will speed up our work. Infectious infections are always at the end of working hours, we have introduced this since the beginning of Covid. 98% of patients respect this, occasionally some infectious inattentive patient appears even during healthy hours, but we always educate and teach this.”

Or you can create multiple variations, as MUDr. Sobotka, e.g. “I have health problems - I have symptoms of respiratory diseases (cough, runny nose, etc.)”, for which you immediately set the category of infectious. Then, for example, “I have health problems - difficulty urinating”, where you can immediately put the category “non-infectious”, etc. Another advantage is that you can immediately preset that you usually need 10 minutes for respiratory infections and 20 minutes for non-infectious abdominal pain.
