Emmy grew directly out of the practice of a group of six general practitioners in the Czech Republic and their frustration at the growing gap between what digital technology can do and what outdated and limited tools doctors have to work with in practice. After many years of experience in their own practices, Tim Young and Ondřej Sobotka decided to establish Emmy and create a solution that doctors lack.
First, they conducted a survey of what doctors need most, and then
from the doctors interviewed, they compiled a group of pilot clinics, which regularly recalled the development of Emma in the second half of 2020.
These practices subsequently decided to invest not only their time but also their finances in Emma. In the future, we plan to allow other doctors to co-finance further development of the Emmy and thus become investors in this project.

Founder and Chief Physician of Emmy
“In my work as a general practitioner, I have always tried to make the most of modern technology and look for an effective way of conducting my practice. In doing so, I pointed out the inadequacy and inflexibility of existing medical software and the unsuitability of open solutions. The Emmy, for me, is a realization of how to fill that gap. Today's world is undergoing major social and technological changes. Large organizations have enough resources to implement them. I wish and strive for clever innovative solutions to reach small offices as well. “
Founder and CEO
“Before the start of the Emmy in 2019, I had two main jobs: I managed General Practitioners Office in Prague and I worked as an advisor in assessing “smart” projects for the European Investment Bank. In my work, I try to make the world a better place. There is a desperate need to improve the tools and logistics of healthcare delivery. In particular, public health care, which provides most of the services used by most people is stuck in the past. That's something I'd like to change with the Emmys. “
Founder and CTO
“I have over 10 years of experience developing modern cloud solutions for a wide range of corporate customers, including large corporations such as e.g. Siemens, Mall.cz, Czech News Center or Czech Industrial Health Insurance Company. I always try to design solutions that use modern, safe, stable and fast technologies to make the use of applications as comfortable as possible. I know Tim Young from our joint project for his family practice, so it was easy to arrange to start Emma. I lead the development team and I'm responsible for the tech side of Emma. I am happy to be able to use my knowledge to help such a meaningful project. “
Founder and Senior Analyst
“Prior to the Emmy, I worked for a number of years in a private multinational healthcare group developing medical software. It has always been our top priority to offer doctors and nurses a program as understandable and easy to use as possible, which set us apart from the competition. They say medical IT is 10 years back versus banking and another 10 against modern trends. It is in areas such as patient ordering and secure doctor-patient communication that this is seen in full nudity. We are preparing Emmys to make up for this difference at least in these areas, emptying the waiting rooms and allowing patients to come at the specific time of their appointment, or better yet, if there is no need, not to go in person at all in a number of cases. “
